Devils Tower

Devil's Tower Stop 3:

Devils Tower

Declared the first United States National Monument on September 24, 1906, by President Theodore Roosevelt, Devils Tower encloses an area of 1,347 acres. The hundreds of parallel cracks surrounding the tower make it one of the finest crack climbing areas in North America. And if you can stick around for nightfall, you’ll be in for a real treat. As they say, “half the park is after dark” – the enormous tower is backlit by the clear Wyoming sky, and you can marvel at the same silhouette and stars that have captured the imaginations of the indigenous Lakota people, not to mention countless visitors, for thousands of years.
