Lake Shasta

Stop 3:

Lake Shasta

Moving on (at whatever pace you wish), we head south into northern California, which in addition to the lovely wine country also happens to be home to the Lake Shasta Caverns. Officially discovered in 1878, since 1964 they have been open to the public as a natural attraction. Tours generally last about two hours, which includes a 10-minute boat ride across the McCloud arm of the lake, a 10-minute bus ride up to the cavern’s entrance, and a 45- to 60-minute guided tour of the caverns.
