Mount Hood

Mount Hood Stop 1:

Mount Hood

If you like skiing or snowboarding, but find yourself out of luck during the summer, fret no more. We begin our journey with a location that is instantly recognizable. Located near the top of an 11,245-foot volcano, the beautiful and historic Mt. Hood Timberline Lodge offers skiing and snowboarding year-round. It also just so happens to be the location used to represent the Overlook Hotel in the movie The Shining. But the only scary thing about a trip here is the number of things to keep a family busy. This includes mountain hikes with one of the lodge’s St. Bernard mascots, Heidi and Bruno. (Hint: Don’t ask to stay in the room made famous by the classic horror film. Room 237 doesn’t exist. They made it up because they were afraid using a real room number might scare visitors off.)
