Meet John King

John King is a Country Music Artist and Songwriter who found a way to blend his love for camping and family life with his career. When he’s traveling to shows, he and his family use their Shadow Cruiser 325 BHS as a home away from home and an oasis for creative inspiration.

  • How would you best describe your travel/camping style?

    Family-centered, career-driven, and spontaneous! We love to plan trips that last several weeks at a time, allowing us to make lifelong memories while seeing diverse landscapes and national landmarks.

  • What is something that always lifts your spirits?

    I love playing with my kids. They bring me so much joy and always lift my spirits. Also exercising (especially outdoors), picking up my guitar, and going on a walk with my wife!

  • What is your preferred type of camping (ie RV park, boondocking, state park, etc), and why?

    We really love the privacy of either national parks or boondocking. The sweet spot for us is a nice, spacious federal park campground with hookups. Boondocking can be a lot of work but it’s worth it! 

  • What is your favorite piece of advice you’ve ever given or received on the road?

    Double-check once, twice, then one more time haha! You can never be too careful before you leave for a trip especially towing a massive camper.

  • In a couple of sentences, what is your travel philosophy?

    Not to get in so much of a hurry getting where we’re going that we miss where we’re at.

Big Timber, Montana
Sweetwater Ranch in Big Timber, Montana is owned by a family of ranchers and the scenery is out of this world. To top things off, we’ve become very close friends with the family and always look forward to our visit there.

Dubois, Wyoming
Similar to the first, we’ve become really close with the owners of Absaroka Ranch in Dubois and love to boondock on the extremely remote and gorgeous property.

Glacier National Park
For our third pick, we’re going with one of the most amazing national parks the states have to offer! Our trip there was something we’ll talk about forever in this family… Just unreal.

Clear Creek Campground, Alabama
We love a local campground not far from us in Alabama called Clear Creek Campground. It’s on a beautiful lake and has really nice, spacious sites.

Lane Farm, Tennessee
Lastly we’re going with Lemon Lane Farm right here in Tennessee. It’s another private spot that also has farm animals and lots of fun stuff for the kids to do!
