In-House Corporate Paralegal

Reporting to General Counsel, paralegal will support our corporate and intellectual property legal functions, including conducting trademark searches, assisting in the preparation of agency filings, due diligence investigations, assisting with the review, administration, and preparation of contracts, and supporting litigation and commercial transactions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing an intellectual property portfolio of domestic and international trademarks, copyrights, and patents (and working with our docketing system).
  • Assisting in the preparation and filing of U.S. trademark and copyright applications, maintenance filings, responses to office actions, and related matters.
  • Assisting with management of invention disclosures and patent applications.
  • Assisting with the preparation of and management of licenses and other contracts.
  • Conducting trademark clearance research.
  • Supporting IP enforcement and litigation efforts as needed.
  • Management of invoices from outside counsel and service providers.
  • Assisting with other corporate, M&A, regulatory, litigation, and intellectual property matters as needed.
  • Undertaking other duties reasonable and consistent with the position and as needed.

Qualifications

  • Four year degree and completion of paralegal program of study or demonstration of equivalent knowledge and skill.
  • 3 or more years of experience as a paralegal or equivalent position; intellectual property experience preferred.
  • Excellent time, task, and project management skills and the ability to perform complex tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong professional writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work closely with colleagues and internal stakeholders.
  • Desire and ability to learn new skills and adapt to new processes and technologies.
  • Intellectual property experience is preferred, including experience with basic intellectual property concepts, law, and procedure.
  • Proficiency in Internet research skills and use of computerized business applications (including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel) and IP docketing systems (or equivalent docketing or task management systems).
  • Ability to protect company and client confidentiality.
